🎚️ EMC measurement limits
Limit masks for conducted and radiated emissions: frequency ranges, levels, detectors. They define the line the measurement must stay below.
|
EN 55014-1 — Conducted emissions, mains port (QP and AV)
Reference:
EN 55014-1 — household appliances
Two limit lines in the same file: quasi-peak and average. Check the values against the edition of the standard in force for your product before using them for a verdict.

EN 55032 class B — Conducted, mains port (QP + AV)
Reference:
EN 55032 / CISPR 32 class B
Residential environment. Two lines in the same file, quasi-peak and average, with the step at 5 MHz. Indicative values: compare them with the table of the edition in force.

EN 55032 class A — Conducted, mains port (QP + AV)
Reference:
EN 55032 / CISPR 32 class A
Industrial and commercial environment. Class A applies only if the product is intended for that environment and the manual carries the warning required by the standard: a product sold to the public must be judged in class B.

EN 55014-1 — Radiated emissions at 3 m, quasi-peak
Reference:
EN 55014-1 — 30 MHz – 1 GHz
CISPR harmonised levels for 30–1000 MHz at 3 m. Derived from the 10 m values using the +10 dB rule: compare them with the table of the applicable standard.

EN 55032 class B — Radiated at 3 m, quasi-peak
Reference:
EN 55032 / CISPR 32 class B
30–1000 MHz with the step at 230 MHz. The limits of the standard are defined at 10 m: here they are brought to 3 m with the +10 dB rule, an approximation accepted in pre-compliance but not equivalent.

EN 55032 class B — Radiated at 10 m, quasi-peak
Reference:
EN 55032 / CISPR 32 class B
30–1000 MHz with the step at 230 MHz, at the measurement distance of the standard.

Empty template — conducted emissions limit mask
Reference:
none: to be filled in
Skeleton with every field set to null: fill it in starting from the applicable standard. The software refuses to load the file if a mandatory field is left empty, so nothing can be forgotten along the way.

Empty template — radiated emissions limit mask
Reference:
none: to be filled in
As above, for radiated emissions: it includes the measurement distance, which the software needs to extrapolate between 3 and 10 metres.

EXAMPLE with fictitious values — conducted
Reference:
NONE: made-up values
These are not the limits of any standard: they are there to try the software and to see what a comparison against the mask looks like. Do not use them for verdicts.

EXAMPLE with fictitious values — radiated at 3 m
Reference:
NONE: made-up values
Typical shape of a radiated mask, with the step at 230 MHz. Made-up values, for testing only.

|
EXAMPLE with fictitious values — radiated at 10 m
Reference:
NONE: made-up values
The same levels as the 3 m example, lowered by 10.46 dB: useful to check that the distance extrapolation done by the software is consistent.

🧮 Configurations and corrections
Measurement setups and correction factors for the chain: attenuators, cable losses, preamplifier gain, antenna factor. They bring the instrument reading back to the real level.
|
Setup — conducted emissions with LISN
Reference:
EN 55014-1
Measurement chain with LISN: bands, RBW and corrections to apply. To be paired with the correction files of your own chain.

Two columns, frequency and factor in dB. The values come from the calibration certificate of YOUR antenna: using another antenna's figures falsifies the measurement.

Template — cable loss
Reference:
none: to be filled in
Loss in dB against frequency. Measure it on the cable you will actually use, do not estimate it: at 1 GHz a mediocre cable loses several dB.

Template — preamplifier gain
Reference:
none: to be filled in
Gain in dB against frequency, from the certificate or from measurement. It enters the chain with the opposite sign to the losses.

Always verify
These files are a starting point, not a certificate: values must be checked against the current edition of the standard applicable to your product, and corrections must be measured on YOUR chain. An unverified limit mask produces measurements that look valid and are not.
